The New York, USA site is seeking a Scientist to join our Discovery Bioprocess team. The incumbent will be a key scientific contributor in a dynamic and progressive team pioneering scaled manufacturing of nervous system cells from pluripotent stem cells. Experience developing mammalian cell culture bioprocesses is essential, familiarity with cGMP manufacturing requirements is a plus.

Design and lead multifaceted projects to characterize and optimize processes for the scalable manufacture of nervous system cells from pluripotent stem cells.
Co-ordinate and interact with other functional areas to ensure a thorough understanding of the impact of scale-up on the quality of the differentiated cell product.
Act as a subject matter expert to support other process development actives, and mentor junior team members.
Analyze experimental data to draw conclusions that support decision-making and next steps within and across projects.
Assist and train others as necessary.
Prepare and present project plans and regular project progress updates and recommendations.
Prepare, review, and approve standard operating procedures, batch records and other process documentation.
Present scientific data to colleagues in group meetings, prepare and present internal and external presentations (presentations, posters, publications), author and submit articles to peer-reviewed journals as required.
Ph.D. in life sciences or interdisciplinary engineering, OR a Bachelor’s degree plus at least 5 years of experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry is required
Mammalian cell culture experience is required
Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture, ideally including pluripotent stem cells and differentiation thereof are preferred
Strong background in bioprocessing technologies is preferred
Knowledge of media components and their interactions is a plus.
Experience developing and optimizing cell therapy manufacturing processes a strong plus.
Strong practical knowledge of project planning, experimental design, and statistical analysis of data is required.
Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills are required.
