CODA Biotherapeutics is an early-stage venture backed biotechnology company located in South San Francisco, California using innovative gene therapy approaches to treat intractable neurological diseases.
We are looking for an individual who is innovative, passionate, and energetic with expertise in AAV gene therapy. The role would include a diverse set of responsibilities in a team setting and would let the individual take part in discovery and development, and thereby bring next-generation, transformative gene therapies to our patients with debilitating disorders.
Applicants are required to be highly motivated and passionate to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment, be a team player with a PhD degree and preferably a post-doctoral fellowship in biomedical sciences. Experience in an industry-setting is highly desired, but not required.
▸ Independently design and execute experiments following appropriate laboratory procedures and produce accurate and reproducible results to a high technical standard
▸ Appropriately analyze data, interpret results, and brainstorm issues to achieve project objectives
▸ Provide oversight and management of junior team members as well as CROs
▸ Identify novel methods to assess CODA’s gene therapy product and provide expertise in development of bioanalytical assays
Education, Experience, & Skills Requirements
▸ PhD in Biomedical Sciences is required; post-doctoral fellowship is preferred.
▸ 3+ years of experience is required either in a past-paced academic lab or biotech (preferred).
▸ Track record in the form of atleast 2-3 first author publications demonstrating ability to optimally design, execute, and interpret experiments with the highest integrity.
▸ Depth of experience in AAV vectors for gene therapy is essential. Broad knowledge and background in the peripheral and/ or central nervous system is a plus.
▸ Demonstrated skills and hands-on experience in molecular biology, including standard recombinant DNA technology/ cloning, performing studies that would include DNA/RNA isolation and analyses with qPCR, protein assessments with western blot, ELISA, immunolabelling (IHC, IF, ICC), and flow cytometry.
▸ Proficiency in tissue culture techniques, especially handling primary and iPSC-derived cells, as well as cell lines.
▸ Experience with PNS and CNS in vivo animal models is preferred by not essential.

▸ Be proactive, co-operative, and willing to work in small team environment
▸ Have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
▸ Be proficient with MS Office, Softmax, SnapGene, Prism, and other commonly used software
