Vice President, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications at Achaogen

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications is a valued member of senior team at Achaogen, serving as a primary contact with our investment community and developing our image and storyline with the broader external audience. The role is that of an experienced leader that oversees the development and execution of a multi-year, strategic investor relations and corporate communications plan that is aligned with Achaogen’s long-range goals.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for all aspects of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications; helping shape the company's strategic direction; establishing and maintaining the company's relationship with key analysts and the investment community; developing and effectively delivering product, program and corporate messages to key audiences.
Oversee and manage the strategic focus and content, development for Achaogen’s stakeholders, including investor presentations, management scripts and Q&A for quarterly earnings calls, annual report, materials for Board of Directors and other disclosure-related documents.
Plan and ensure execution of key investor events and communications, including road shows, periodic investor days, as well as drafting of press releases quarterly earnings releases and other key communications and announcements; prepare research, scripts and supporting information/Q&A, and conference call materials.
In partnership with other departments, monitor competitor, regulatory, and broader external environment to understand potential impact on Achaogen’s business; provide counsel to senior team on possible future actions.
Ensure overall planning and execution of external communications are timely, accurate, and effective to include the development of all investor relations-related communications such as investor presentations and materials and development and maintenance of the company website and Corporate Presentation.
Develop and drive Corporate Communications in partnership with the executive team and external firms on Public Relations strategy, communications, media coverage, positioning, branding and marketing.

Preferred Experience:

15+ years' experience with 7+ years of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications at a public commercial stage biotechnology/specialty pharma company or in the investment community.
In-depth knowledge of the financial and investment markets.

Preferred Education:

BA/BS degree required; advanced degree a plus, with preference for MBA (or PhD)
